Singles of the year

All the naysayers will try and tell you that music isn't as good as it once was but I honestly can't think of anything further from the truth. It is heartening to think that there are still people out there committed to making really great records that are original and forward thinking for very little financial reward.

The five records that I have chosen may seem disparate if you listen to them but they all seem to be blessed by the rare ability to sound better on each and every listen. These are records that I have come back to time and time again over the course of this year and I'll probably be playing them well into 2008 and beyond.

Etienne Jaumet - Repeat Again After Me - Ame remix - Versatile

Midlake - Roscoe - Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve re-animation - Unreleased

Smith & Mudd - Plot of Land - Rong

For those of you that are eagle-eyed, the picture is of the flip-side simply because I couldn't find a picture of the other side.

Tony Allen - Kilode - Carl Craig remix - Honest Jon's

Map of Africa - Here Come The Heads - Whatever We Want Records
